He was slated to ship out to basic training on June 11th 2001.

Santo's family and close friends threw him a going away party on June 8th 2001. The party was held at Isabel's home located at 3031 Clymer St. Dallas,Texas 75212.

Isabel's residence is located inside the area that is known as "Westside/Ledbetter" gang territory. (Tr. R-111 at 107)

Around 9:30pm the night of June 8th a lot of his friends and associates began showing up. Isabel, Santo's grandmother as well as his father and mother allowed alcohol to be served to the mostly underage people at the party, even as going as far as providing an ice storage and other alcohol serving machines.

For the most part everyone knew one another as high school classmates, friends and family of Santos.

(Tr. R-111 at 17; 108-109)

Most of everyone present belonged to one of three gangs from the area: Westside, Vagos 18, or Ledbetter.

As the party went past midnight, into June 9th 2001 a young man from the neighborhood named Licho Escamilla showed up. He came with several members of his gang "Ledbetter". As tensions rose people began to leave, so the Dj played a song meant to incite the crowd. The song was named "Throw your clicks up". (Tr. R-IV at 76)

Several gang signs were thrown by individuals at the party. A young man named Daniel Baxter was filming the party and captured the event. His video would later become (States Exhibit 35/See Video Below: Quintin enters in the frame at the 20-22 second mark.)
